Getting from Agios Efstratios to Fournoi
If you are heading to Fournoi from Agios Efstratios you are making your way from a small island in the northern Aegean to a cluster of small fishing islands between Ikaria and Samos in the eastern Aegean. It has excellent seafood, quiet beaches and almost no tourist infrastructure.
Take the ferry
There is a direct seasonal ferry connection from Agios Efstratios to Fournoi, operating on the wider mainline route via Samos, Ikaria and Chios a few times a week. Check the schedule carefully as the frequency is limited and the service may not operate on your preferred dates. A more reliable approach is to take the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, fly to Athens and then fly to Samos or Ikaria and take the short local ferry to Fournoi, which takes under 1 hour from either island.
Getting there by air
Fournoi has no airport. The nearest airports are Samos and Ikaria. Taking the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Samos, followed by the short ferry to Fournoi, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, fly to Athens and then fly to Samos and take the local ferry across to Fournoi. It is the most practical approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Fournoi and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited.
