Getting from Alexandroupoli to Paros

If you are heading to Paros from Alexandroupoli you are making your way from the far northeastern corner of Greece to the hub of the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the country. It has one of the most beautiful small harbour villages in Greece at Naoussa, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a position at the centre of the island ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Alexandroupoli to Paros. Alexandroupoli's ferry connections are limited to Samothrace, Lemnos, Agios Efstratios and Lavrio. Getting to Paros by sea means flying to Athens first and then taking the Piraeus to Paros ferry, which runs multiple times daily in summer and takes around 3 hours on the fast catamaran and 4 to 5 hours on a conventional vessel.

Getting there by air

Paros has a small airstrip but no commercial scheduled flights operate there as of 2026. Flying from Alexandroupoli to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Paros is the only realistic approach. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Fly from Alexandroupoli to Athens and take the Piraeus to Paros ferry. The ferry delivers you directly to Parikia port in the centre of the island. Book ahead in July and August as this is one of the most popular routes in the Cyclades. If you are traveling with a car, drive from Alexandroupoli to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Paros ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the island.
