Getting from Amorgos to Santorini

If you are heading to Santorini from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the most iconic island in Greece, with caldera views, volcanic beaches and the ancient Minoan site of Akrotiri preserved under volcanic ash.

Take the ferry

There is a direct seasonal ferry from Amorgos to Santorini running from around May to September, departing from Katapola port. The fast catamaran takes around 1 hour 10 to 15 minutes and the conventional Express Skopelitis takes around 3 hours 15 minutes. The service runs around 6 times a week in peak season and around 3 times a week from October to May. Check the schedule carefully and book ahead in summer as this is a popular route. Note that vehicles cannot be transported on the high-speed catamaran service.

Getting there by air

Santorini has an international airport. Amorgos has no airport. Taking the ferry to Santorini is the only realistic direct connection between the two islands. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the direct seasonal ferry from Amorgos to Santorini. The fast catamaran at around 1 hour 10 minutes is one of the most effortless Cyclades connections and arriving into the caldera by sea is one of the great island arrivals in Greece. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional Express Skopelitis carries a small number of vehicles but note that space is extremely limited and booking is essential.
