Getting from Amorgos to Schinoussa

If you are heading to Schinoussa from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to one of the Small Cyclades, just a short hop to the northwest. It has more than 18 beaches scattered around a coastline that you can walk across in an afternoon.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Amorgos to Schinoussa running several times a week via the Express Skopelitis, the local Small Cyclades ferry that connects the island group. The crossing from Katapola to Schinoussa takes around 1 to 2 hours depending on the stops along the way. It is the most practical and enjoyable way to make this connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Small Cyclades network.

Getting there by air

Schinoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Amorgos has no airport either. The ferry connection via the Express Skopelitis is considerably more practical than flying for this short island hop.

Your best option

Take the Express Skopelitis from Amorgos to Schinoussa. It is one of the most charming ferry journeys in the Cyclades, threading through the Small Cyclades island group. Check the schedule before planning around it as the service runs a limited number of times per week. Give yourself at least two nights on Schinoussa and come with everything you need as facilities on the island are limited.
