Getting from Amorgos to Tinos

If you are heading to Tinos from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to an island in the central part of the group. It has the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Amorgos to Tinos running in summer on the wider Cyclades route. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 5 to 8 hours depending on the vessel and stops. Alternatively, take the ferry from Amorgos to Mykonos and then the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos, which takes around 30 minutes and runs several times daily in summer.

Getting there by air

Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Amorgos has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos, followed by the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos, gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. Alternatively, take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos, which runs up to 12 times daily in summer and takes around 2 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city entirely. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Tinos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the port.
