Getting from Astakos to Porto Heli

If you are heading to Porto Heli from Astakos you are making your way from a port town on the western coast of central Greece to a sheltered harbour on the Argolic Gulf in the northeastern Peloponnese, on the opposite side of the country. It has a marina, good beaches and Spetses visible across the water.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Astakos to Porto Heli. Astakos ferry connections are limited to Kefalonia and Ithaca. Getting to Porto Heli means driving south from Astakos through the Peloponnese to Porto Heli, which takes around 4 to 4.5 hours via Patras, Corinth and the Argolic Gulf road. It is a straightforward road journey that avoids Athens entirely.

Getting there by air

Porto Heli has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Astakos has no airport either. Driving from Astakos south through the Peloponnese to Porto Heli via Patras and Corinth is the most practical approach and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Drive from Astakos south through the Peloponnese to Porto Heli via Patras and Corinth. At around 4 to 4.5 hours it avoids Athens entirely and is the most direct road approach. From Porto Heli you can take the short local boat across to Spetses in around 10 minutes or the Saronic ferry connections to other destinations. If you are traveling with a car the drive south is straightforward and the road through the Peloponnese is a good one.
