Getting from Dokos to Hydra
If you are heading to Hydra from Dokos you are making the most natural connection from the island, to the nearest inhabited island just across the water. Hydra is a car-free island with elegant stone mansions, exceptionally clear water and a quality of silence unlike anywhere else within easy reach of Athens.
Take the ferry
There are no scheduled ferries from Dokos. Dokos has no ferry service and is accessible only by water taxi, with the crossing from Dokos to Hydra taking around 30 minutes. It is the only realistic connection between the two islands and the water taxi departs from Hydra harbour. The water taxi rank in Hydra can be reached on +30 2298053690 and must be arranged in advance as you cannot hail a boat once you are on Dokos.
Getting there by air
Hydra has no airport and neither does Dokos. The water taxi is the only realistic option for this short connection and at around 30 minutes it is one of the most effortless island connections in the Saronic Gulf.
Your best option
Arrange a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra before leaving the island. Pre-arrange your return with the captain before you disembark on Dokos as there is no way to call for a boat once you are there. The water taxi costs around €125 for up to eight people one way. Note that Hydra is car-free so no vehicles can be taken to or from the island.
