Getting from Donoussa to Kimolos

If you are heading to Kimolos from Donoussa you are making your way from one of the Small Cyclades to a small white island just off the northwestern tip of Milos in the western Cyclades, in the same island group. It has beaches that see a fraction of the crowds found anywhere nearby.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Donoussa to Kimolos. Getting there means taking the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos, which runs 4 to 7 times a week and takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, and then connecting west through the Cyclades to Milos, followed by the short local ferry from Pollonia to Kimolos taking around 20 to 25 minutes and running daily. Alternatively take the direct Donoussa to Piraeus ferry and then the Piraeus to Milos ferry, followed by the short crossing to Kimolos from Pollonia.

Getting there by air

Kimolos has no airport. The nearest airport is Milos. Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the ferry from Donoussa to Piraeus and flying from Athens to Milos, followed by the short local ferry from Pollonia to Kimolos, gives a total journey time of around 12 to 14 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Donoussa to Naxos and connect west through the Cyclades to Milos, then cross to Kimolos from Pollonia. It keeps the journey within the Cyclades and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedules carefully before booking as the Donoussa to Naxos connection runs a limited number of times per week. If you are traveling with a car, take the Donoussa to Piraeus ferry and board the conventional Piraeus to Milos ferry, then cross to Kimolos from Pollonia on the local ferry.
