Getting from Spetses to Poros
If you are heading to Poros from Spetses you are making your way from one car-free island in the Saronic Gulf to another, just a short distance to the north. Poros sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland and the narrow channel between them creates one of the most charming harbour settings in Greece.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Spetses to Poros running several times daily as part of the Saronic island circuit, taking around 1 to 1.5 hours via Hydra. It is one of the most natural connections in the Saronic Gulf and keeps the journey entirely within the island group without going through Athens or Piraeus. The service runs year-round making it a reliable connection at any time of year.
Getting there by air
Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Spetses has no airport. The nearest airport is also Athens. The direct Saronic ferry connection is considerably more practical than flying for this short within-Saronic Gulf connection. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the direct Saronic ferry from Spetses to Poros via Hydra. It is the most natural and direct connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Saronic Gulf. Check the schedule before traveling as departure times vary by season. Note that Spetses is car-free so all passengers travel as foot passengers on this connection. If you are traveling with a car it would be at the mainland port of Kosta, from where you can drive to Galatas on the eastern Peloponnese coast and take the short local ferry across to Poros, which takes only a few minutes and runs constantly throughout the day.
