Getting from Spetses to Tinos
If you are heading to Tinos from Spetses you are making your way from a car-free island in the Saronic Gulf to the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of Attica. It has the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Spetses to Tinos. Getting there means taking the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus, which runs up to 10 times daily and takes around 2 to 3.5 hours, and then boarding the ferry from Rafina to Tinos, which runs up to 12 times daily in summer and takes around 2 hours, or the Piraeus to Tinos ferry directly. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city entirely.
Getting there by air
Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Spetses has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus, flying from Athens to Mykonos and then taking the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos, which takes around 20 to 35 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus and make your way to Rafina for the ferry across to Tinos. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. With up to 12 daily departures from Rafina in summer it is a straightforward connection. Note that Spetses is car-free so if you are traveling with a car it would be at the mainland port of Kosta, from where you can drive to Rafina for the ferry across to Tinos.
