Getting from Syros to Andros

If you are heading to Andros from Syros you are making your way from the capital of the Cyclades to the northernmost island in the same group, just a short distance to the north. It has neoclassical mansions, an art museum of genuinely international quality and a network of old footpaths connecting the villages.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Syros to Andros running several times daily in summer, taking around 1.5 to 2 hours. It is one of the most natural connections in the northern Cyclades and keeps the journey entirely within the island group without going through Athens or Piraeus. The service runs year-round with reduced frequency in winter and connects directly to Rafina on the mainland making it easy to continue your journey from there.

Getting there by air

Andros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Syros has a small domestic airport with limited connections from Athens. The direct ferry from Syros to Andros is considerably more practical than flying for this short island hop within the same island group. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Syros to Andros. It is the most natural and direct connection and keeps the journey entirely within the northern Cyclades. Check the schedule before traveling as departure times vary by season. If you are traveling with a car the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Andros port.
