Getting from Syros to Serifos
If you are heading to Serifos from Syros you are making your way from the capital of the Cyclades to an island in the western part of the same group. It has a Chora that climbs a steep hill above the port in a way that looks almost impossibly dramatic from the water.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Syros to Serifos. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Syros to Piraeus, which runs up to 6 daily crossings in summer and takes around 2 hours on the fast boat, and then boarding the Piraeus to Serifos ferry, which runs 4 to 5 times daily in summer and takes around 2 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat. This is the most practical sea approach as there is no direct inter-island connection between Syros and the western Cyclades that avoids Piraeus.
Getting there by air
Serifos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Syros has a small domestic airport with limited connections from Athens. Taking the ferry from Syros to Piraeus and boarding the Piraeus to Serifos ferry gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Syros to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Serifos ferry. At around 2 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Serifos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. Plan your Syros departure around the Serifos ferry schedule to avoid a long wait at Piraeus. If you are traveling with a car the conventional Piraeus to Serifos ferry takes your vehicle directly to Livadi port.
