Getting from Telendos to Patras
If you are heading to Patras from Telendos you are making your way from a tiny car-free island off the western coast of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Telendos to Patras. Getting there means taking the local boat from Telendos to Myrties on Kalymnos, which takes around 5 minutes, and then either flying from Kalymnos to Athens and taking the KTEL bus or driving west to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway, or taking the overnight ferry from Kalymnos port at Pothia to Piraeus and then driving or taking the bus west to Patras.
Getting there by air
Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. Telendos has no airport. The nearest airports are Kalymnos and Kos. Taking the local boat from Telendos to Myrties, flying from Kalymnos to Athens and then taking the KTEL bus or driving west to Patras gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the local boat from Telendos to Myrties and fly from Kalymnos to Athens, then take the KTEL bus west to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. From Patras you have ferry connections to the Ionian islands and international connections to Italy. If you are traveling with a car, note that no cars are permitted on Telendos so your vehicle would already be on Kalymnos, from where you can take the overnight ferry to Piraeus and drive west to Patras via the E65 motorway.
