Getting from Thassos to Parga
If you are heading to Parga from Thassos you are making your way from the northernmost island in Greece to a Venetian-built harbour town on the Epirus coast, on the opposite side of the country. It faces the Ionian Sea with good beaches and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Thassos to Parga. Parga is a mainland coastal town accessible only by road. Getting there means taking the ferry from Thassos to Kavala, which runs almost hourly in summer and takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, and then driving west via the Egnatia motorway and Ioannina to Parga, which takes around 4 to 4.5 hours from Kavala. This avoids Athens entirely and is the most natural cross-country approach at around 6 to 6.5 hours total.
Getting there by air
Parga has no airport. The nearest airports are Preveza, around 65 kilometres south, and Ioannina, around 103 kilometres east. Thassos has no airport. The nearest airport is Kavala. Taking the ferry from Thassos to Kavala, flying from Kavala to Athens and then Athens to Ioannina, followed by a taxi or bus to Parga taking around 1.5 hours, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
