Getting from Volos to Rafina

If you are heading to Rafina from Volos you are making your way from a city on the Pagasetic Gulf at the foot of the Pelion peninsula to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, on the northeastern Attica coast around 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. It is the departure point for ferries to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and several northern Cycladic islands.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Volos to Rafina. Getting there means driving from Volos south via the E75 motorway to Athens and then continuing northeast to Rafina, which takes around 3.5 to 4 hours from Volos in total. Rafina sits just 20 kilometres from Athens Airport making it a convenient connection that avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely.

Getting there by air

Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 20 kilometres to the west. Volos has a small airport at Nea Anchialos with limited connections from Athens.
