About the Beach
Kounoupitsa Beach is a narrow and very convenient coastal stretch located right on the edge of the main town of Spetses, extending from the historic port of Dapia toward the island's famous schools. It features a shore of fine pebbles and sand with crystal-clear turquoise water that is consistently calm and inviting for a quick dip or a relaxed afternoon swim. The beach is unorganized in its most natural sections, but it is served by the numerous traditional tavernas, upscale restaurants, and vibrant bars that line the elegant promenade immediately above the sand. It is a destination for those who want to combine a high-quality swim with the cosmopolitan and aristocratic atmosphere of the town without needing to travel far. The water is deep and fresh, offering an invigorating environment for a long soak while watching the water taxis and yachts move across the Saronic Gulf. Access is very easy on foot or by bicycle from any part of the town, making it a favorite for local residents and visitors who appreciate neighborhood charm. The entry into the water is via the smooth stones and the clarity is exceptionally high. The atmosphere is social and reflects the refined maritime culture of the island.
