Greek Community in Caracas, Venezuela

Venezuela has historically had one of the larger Greek communities in South America outside Brazil and Argentina, with immigration occurring mainly in the postwar decades. In recent years the community has shrunk considerably as many Greek Venezuelans, like much of the country's population, emigrated amid Venezuela's ongoing economic and political crisis. What remains of the community maintains ties through Greek Orthodox parishes and informal cultural networks, primarily in and around Caracas. Population estimates for Greeks and people of Greek descent in Venezuela today are modest, generally in the low thousands.
