About The Event
To mark the National Celebration of 28 October 1940, a Doxology Service will be held on Thursday, 29 October 2026 at 11:30 am at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney, presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. A detachment of the Presidential Guard (Evzones) from Greece will attend, together with the Consular Authorities, Greek war veterans and the presidents of Greek associations and brotherhoods. Following the programme of the Inter-Communities Council of New South Wales, a wreath-laying ceremony follows at 11:45 am at the Cenotaph in the Cathedral courtyard, and at 12 noon a reception is held in honour of the dignitaries and all members of the Greek community in attendance.
