Melbourne, Australia
About The Event
The Hellenic Museum's one-night-only event returns for its fifth anniversary. Ancient Mediterranean myths and histories have long been a way to explore human diversity, and this evening celebrates contemporary understandings of queerness through the lens of antiquity. Explore the galleries by night with a drink from the cash bar, then settle into lecture-style presentations in the Museum forecourt under a new marquee, as LGBTQ+ classicists and historians explore the queerness of the celestial, the astrological and the galactic in the ancient world, with speakers including Tobias Fulton, Dr Tanika Koosmen, Dr Jessica McKenzie and Dr Becky Clifton. The night ends with a collaborative stargazing activity. Friday 6 November 2026, 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Hellenic Museum, 280 William St, Melbourne.
