The Story of Kratos
Kratos was the god of strength and power, a son of the Titan Pallas and the goddess Styx. His brothers and sisters were Nike, the goddess of victory, Bia, the goddess of force, and Zelus, the god of zeal. His name simply means might or power in Greek.
When Zeus called on the immortals to fight the Titans, Styx was the first to come to his side, bringing her four children with her. Zeus rewarded her by making her the river by which the gods swore their most solemn oaths, and he gave her children a home beside him forever. From then on Kratos never left the side of Zeus, wherever he went.
Kratos plays his biggest role in the play Prometheus Bound, where he drags the Titan Prometheus to a lonely rock and harshly urges Hephaestus to chain him tight. He had little worship of his own. To the Greeks he was the living image of the raw authority behind the rule of Zeus, a power that could not be argued with.

Chaining Prometheus
In Aeschylus's play Prometheus Bound, Kratos and his sister Bia drag Prometheus to a rocky peak in the Caucasus. Kratos mocks the Titan and harshly urges Hephaestus to drive the chains tight.
Allies of Zeus
During the war against the Titans, Kratos and his siblings were brought to Zeus by their mother Styx. In return for their loyalty, Zeus kept them always at his side.
