Abyss is a five-star traditional hotel of six suites in the Oia Caldera district of Santorini. The cave-style suites look out over the caldera and the Aegean, with private plunge pools on each terrace. The hotel is adults-only and sits in the pedestrian lanes of central Oia.

Every suite has a direct caldera view from a private terrace. Guests get baggage transfer, a welcome drink on arrival, Molton Brown amenities, Bang & Olufsen sound, a Simmons anatomical bed, a minibar, a safe, an espresso machine, and tea and coffee supplies. There is no full-service restaurant for lunch or dinner; the concierge points guests to nearby Oia restaurants.

Rooms and suites

The hotel has six suites for one or two guests. The Junior Suite is about 40 sq m, with a lounge terrace and private plunge pool facing the caldera, a living area with a double bed, a walk-in closet, a minibar, free wifi, and an open bathroom with a separate rainfall shower. The Signature Suite is about 45 sq m and adds a skylight plus a Crystalplant bathtub beside the rainfall shower.

The Superior Suite is about 50 sq m, with a lounge terrace, private plunge pool, skylight, walk-in closet and an open bathroom with bathtub and rainfall shower. The Deluxe Suite is about 45 sq m, with a private plunge pool, open closet and the same bathtub and shower layout. The Honeymoon Suite is about 35 sq m, with a private plunge pool, skylight, open closet and a bathroom with bathtub. All suites are non-smoking.

Pool and breakfast

Each suite has its own private plunge pool or outdoor hot tub on the terrace with a direct caldera view. Guests also share an indoor swimming pool with a reverse current for exercise.

A signature à la carte breakfast is included and served in the suite or on the private terrace. Guests choose a time and menu the evening before. Breakfast runs from 7:30am to 11:00am, with early or late service available, and room service runs 24 hours.

Location and getting around

Abyss sits in the pedestrian lanes of Oia's caldera cliffside, a short walk from the Blue Domes and the village centre. Panagia Platsani Church is about 0.2 km away, the Naval Museum of Oia about 0.3 km, and the Castle of Oia about 0.4 km. Ammoudi Bay is about 0.7 km downhill. Katharos Beach is about 2.3 km away.

The Oia bus stop is about 0.8 km from the hotel, with buses toward Fira. Santorini Airport (JTR) is about 17 km and Athinios ferry port about 22 km; the hotel arranges paid private transfers from either. Oia is largely car-free, with public parking about a 5 to 10 minute walk away.

Good to know

Check-in is from 3:00pm (until midnight) and check-out is from 7:00am to 11:00am. Abyss is adults-only, for guests aged 16 and over. Pets are not allowed. Steep stairs and cobblestone paths mean it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or wheelchair users. There is no on-site parking; public spaces nearby can fill in high season, so the hotel recommends its transfer service. It suits couples who want a private caldera-facing suite in central Oia.
