About Academias Hotel, Autograph Collection

Academias Hotel stands on the corner of Akadimias and Omirou Streets in Kolonaki, about five minutes on foot from Panepistimio metro station. The hotel takes its theme from Plato's Academy, which shows up in the names of its rooms and venues and in small rituals such as a daily reading hour in the early afternoon, when guests are invited to put their phones away and pick up one of the books found around the hotel.

Rooms and suites

Aura Rooms (28 sq m) have a king bed with a Simmons mattress, a marble bathroom with Diptyque products, an espresso machine and a 49 inch TV with Chromecast, and wheelchair accessible versions are available. Anesis Deluxe Rooms are also 28 sq m, with city views and the same comforts, and suit couples on a short city break. Ariston Executive Rooms (34 sq m) look over the city and come with a king bed or two twin beds, so they work well for friends or anyone who wants more room to spread out.

The A-Suite is 66 sq m with a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa and dining table. It has two 55 inch TVs, a standalone bathtub with two rain showers, a wet bar with a wine cooler and a Technogym Wellness Rack, which makes it a good fit for longer stays.

Indoor pool and breakfast

Pnoes Wellness Center has a heated indoor pool with dramatic lighting and a projection wall, so you can watch a film while you swim. There is also a sauna, a 24 hour fitness centre and spa treatments using Valmont and Cinq Mondes products.

Plato Lounge Bar is open from 8am to midnight and specialises in gins from around the world, mixed with Greek herbs, citrus and fruit. It also hosts a cocktail masterclass built around Greek ingredients. Up on the roof, NYX is a Japanese fusion gastrobar with views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill, serving chef Dimitris Kotsalis's menu alongside Japanese whisky, gin and sake.
