About Anthology of Athens, The Leading Hotels of the World

Anthology of Athens is at 4 Andrea Syngrou Avenue, below the Acropolis and directly across from the Temple of Olympian Zeus, with Plaka, Koukaki, the Zappeion and the National Garden all within walking distance. Inside, green Tinian marble is paired with brushed gold and walnut wood and minimalist Italian furniture, and every bathroom uses the same marble as the Acropolis Museum. Outside, a facade of 16 columns echoes the surviving columns of the temple next door. Guests can use Hadrian's Library, a hotel library inspired by the Palatine Anthology, and join lectures, cultural talks and tours, and the concierge plans tailor-made itineraries and private transfers.

Rooms and suites

Every room has a private balcony, and rooms come with a direct 24-hour concierge line, twice-daily housekeeping, an espresso machine and a minibar. Deluxe Rooms (about 22 sq m) face the Temple of Olympian Zeus and suit a couple. Superior Rooms (about 25 sq m) look over Dionysiou Areopagitou Street and have a king-size Simmons bed and a sofa that converts to an extra bed, so up to three adults can share. The Junior Suite (about 25 sq m) has the same layout for up to three adults, and Executive Rooms (about 26 sq m) add a balcony facing the temple.

For more space, the Panorama Suite (about 32 sq m) frames the Temple of Olympian Zeus from its balcony, and the Athenian Suite (about 38 sq m) has an outdoor jetted tub on its balcony for couples who want a private spot outside. The Premium Panorama Suite (about 43 sq m) looks out over several of the city's landmarks. At the top, the Zeus Presidential Suite (about 60 sq m) sleeps up to four adults with a double sofa, and has an outdoor jetted tub on a balcony facing the Acropolis and the temple. Sizes are the hotel's interior averages.

Pool and breakfast

The Acropolis-view pool is the place to spend a warm afternoon with a cocktail and the monuments in front of you. The Balaneion Spa is built around a modern version of the traditional Greek bath, and the fitness studio has handmade wooden equipment, personal training and an Acropolis backdrop.

Breakfast is served from 7am to 11am at The Botany, the roof garden restaurant facing the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, which returns for dinner from 6pm to 11pm with a menu of Greek classics built around sustainable ingredients and Greek herbs. Reservations are recommended. Peristyle Bistro sits in the lobby and a green atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows and serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

Location and getting around
