About St George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel

St George Lycabettus sits at 2 Kleomenous Street in Kolonaki, on the slopes of Lycabettus Hill, and the same family has run it since 1974. Its raised position gives many rooms and the rooftop wide views over Athens to the Acropolis. The pine trails of Lycabettus begin a few steps from the door, and the boutiques, galleries and cafes of Kolonaki are all within an easy walk. Inside there is a contemporary art gallery, a private screening room and a games room with table tennis.

Rooms and suites

Rooms are furnished with COCO-MAT bed linens and towels. The 15 to 20 sq m rooms suit couples and solo travellers. Basic Doubles look over the interior courtyard atrium through large windows, and Budget Rooms on the ground floor are the hotel's most affordable option. Boutique Rooms add a private balcony with partial Acropolis views. Signature Rooms have a balcony over the green slopes of Lycabettus Hill, and Premium Rooms have a balcony with a panoramic Acropolis view. Eco Chic Rooms have balconies and nature-inspired, wood-detailed interiors.

If you need more space, Junior Suites (about 27 sq m, 2nd to 5th floors) have a bedroom and a separate living room. The Deluxe Suites (about 35 to 40 sq m) have a separate bedroom and sitting area, each with its own corner balcony, facing either the Acropolis and the Saronic Gulf or Lycabettus Hill. The Marie Christine Suite is about 80 sq m, with a marble bathroom and a 60 sq m wraparound veranda facing the Acropolis. Families can ask for connecting rooms, cribs, extra beds and babysitting.

Rooftop pool and breakfast

Vertigo, the 7th-floor rooftop pool and bar, has 360-degree views from the Acropolis to Lycabettus Hill, with loungers and a menu of light snacks and finger food. Check current opening times with the hotel. After 8pm it turns into a spot for drinks and dining. The Orloff Spa offers treatments by appointment and has two steam rooms, and the sunlit gym next to it is open daily from 7am to 11pm.

Breakfast is a buffet of traditional Greek specialties from local producers, served at Le Grand Balcon on the 6th floor from 7:30am to 10:30am. If you sleep in, the late breakfast menu at Vertigo runs from 10:30am, and guests with breakfast included get 25 percent off. Also on the 6th floor, La Suite Lounge serves lunch and dinner, inside or on the balcony facing the Acropolis. Executive chef Stefanos Papanikolaou cooks Greek dishes with local products and herbs from the chef's garden. Two private domes seat groups of 2 to 6 for dinner.
