How Many Days Should I Spend in Corinth?
Corinth's ancient site and canal can be covered in a single well-planned day, but staying a second night opens up some of the best ruins in the Peloponnese.
Corinth fits its core sights into about six hours if needed. The canal itself takes only a short stop, ten to fifteen minutes at the pedestrian bridge for the view straight down, and the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, including the Temple of Apollo and the Fountain of Peirene, needs one and a half to two hours to walk properly, with the adjoining museum worth visiting first for context.
A second half day belongs to Acrocorinth, the fortress rising above the ancient site. The climb takes 30 to 45 minutes on a steep, exposed path, and the walls, added to by Byzantine, Frankish, Venetian, and Ottoman rulers in turn, reward the effort with views over the Corinthian Gulf. Pairing the two sites in one day works well for anyone with limited time, ideally starting early to beat both the heat and the tour buses.
A third day turns Corinth into a base for the wider region. Mycenae, with its Lion Gate and beehive tombs, the acoustically renowned theater at Epidaurus, and the vineyards and ruins at Nemea all sit within an hour's drive, and Nafplio makes a strong stop for anyone continuing further into the Peloponnese.
A single day covers the canal, the ancient site, and Acrocorinth for anyone coming from Athens as a focused trip, two days lets the pace ease without rushing between sites, and three or more turns Corinth into a proper base for Mycenae, Epidaurus, and Nemea. Even a rushed morning leaves time for the canal and the temple, but Corinth carries enough history within a short drive to fill several days without repeating a stop.
