How Many Days Should I Spend on Antipaxos?

Antipaxos covers well over a single day trip from Paxos, but the beaches and vineyards that make the island worth visiting come through best for the handful of travelers who stay overnight once the day boats leave.

Antipaxos fills a first day easily around Voutoumi, the largest beach, pairing white sand and pebble with water that shifts through nearly every shade of turquoise and blue. Vrika, at the northern tip, offers shallower water better suited to families, and the roughly 30 minute walk connecting the two climbs through olive groves and vineyards with sea views along the way.

A second stretch of the day belongs to Mesovrika, tucked between the two main beaches and free of facilities, which keeps it quieter and its water especially clear for snorkeling, and Rodovani on the harder to reach northwest side, holding a small sea cave and a similar stretch of white pebble without the crowds.

For anyone staying overnight, the island's vineyards produce a small amount of organic red wine sold at a handful of beachfront tavernas, one of the few real industries here beyond fishing and summer tourism. Accommodation is limited to a small number of private villas and farmhouses, so booking ahead matters, but staying lets visitors have Vrika or Voutoumi to themselves before the first water taxis arrive from Gaios the next morning.

Most travelers reach Antipaxos by water taxi from Gaios on Paxos, a crossing of about 15 to 20 minutes, or through Corfu by ferry and then a connecting boat.

A single day covers Voutoumi and Vrika comfortably for anyone arriving by day boat, and an overnight stay brings Mesovrika, Rodovani, and a quiet evening into the trip. Even a rushed afternoon gives a real sense of the water's color, but the vineyards, quieter coves, and starlit evenings give clear reason to stay past the last boat back.
