How Many Days Should I Spend on Kasos?
Kasos covers well over two to three days for the villages and beaches, and a week lets the island's old stone paths and slower rhythm settle in properly.
Kasos fills a first day easily in Fry, the capital, where narrow streets lead down to Bouka harbor and the small port beach known locally as Kofteri. The Archaeological Museum and the blue and white bell tower of Agios Spyridonas, the island's patron saint, both fit into an easy first afternoon.
A second day belongs to the island's five villages. Poli, the oldest, sits at altitude on the site of the ancient acropolis, and Agia Marina, the largest, spreads across hillsides with neoclassical mansions and white-domed churches, connected by roads that pass remote beaches and open views over the Aegean along the way.
A third day suits Emporios Beach, reachable by a coastal walk from Fry that passes several bars along the way, along with the ruins of a Venetian castle nearby, giving panoramic views over the island for anyone willing to make the climb.
A fourth day works well for a boat trip to Armathia, an uninhabited island where Marmara Beach pairs pale sand with clear water, widely considered one of the best beaches in the region. Kasos connects by ferry to Karpathos in about an hour and to Crete as well, making it a workable stop within a wider southern Dodecanese route.
Two days cover Fry and a first look at the villages comfortably, three or four adds Emporios and a boat trip to Armathia, and a week lets the island's hiking trails and close-knit village life take over fully. Even a short two-day visit gives a real sense of the island's pace, but Kasos's villages, beaches, and hospitality give genuine reason to plan for more than a quick stop.
