How Many Days Should I Spend on Milos?

Milos asks for three to five days, enough to reach Kleftiko by boat, work through its beaches, and cover the fishing villages spread around the coastline.

Milos covers well over a first day around Plaka and Adamas. Plaka, the island's hilltop capital, holds castle ruins with views over the caldera-like bay, and Adamas, the main port, makes an easy base with tavernas and shops within walking distance of most ferries.

A second day belongs to Sarakiniko, the island's volcanic white rock landscape carved into shallow bays and swimming holes, best visited midday when the water color is at its most intense. The fishing villages of Klima, Firopotamos, and Mandrakia, each with boat houses built directly into the cliffs, round out a day spent moving along the north and west coasts.

A third day suits the Catacombs of Milos, among the most significant early Christian burial sites in Greece, paired with the nearby ancient Roman theater for a morning focused on history before the afternoon opens back up to the beaches.

Kleftiko, Milos's sea cave and rock formation on the southwest coast, is reachable only by boat, and full or half day cruises out of Adamas typically pair it with snorkeling stops and a swim near the uninhabited island of Polyaigos.
