How Many Days Should I Spend on Mykonos?
Mykonos asks for three to five days, enough to cover Chora, work through its beaches, and reach Delos without treating any part of it as an afterthought.
Mykonos covers well over a first day in Chora, the capital, where whitewashed lanes wind past the iconic row of windmills and Little Venice, the waterfront district where balconies hang directly over the sea. Panagia Paraportiani, a cluster of five interconnected churches built into one structure, sits at the edge of the old town and is worth timing for the softer evening light.
A second day belongs to the beaches, and Mykonos holds enough range to fill it easily. Psarou and Paraga suit a calmer pace, while Super Paradise and Paradise draw the beach club crowd, and a rental car or ATV makes moving between the island's south coast beaches far easier than relying on buses alone.
A third day suits Ancient Delos, the uninhabited island considered one of the most important religious centers of the ancient world, reachable by a short boat ride from the old port. Guided archaeological tours, sunset sailing trips, and half-day snorkeling excursions are all worth building into the same stretch of the trip, and you can see what's running on a given day through Mykonos boat trips and guided excursions.
A fourth day works well for the island's nightlife properly, since Mykonos runs later than most Cycladic islands and a day built around a slower start gives that side of the island room to happen without eating into beach time the next morning.
Two days cover Chora and a first beach comfortably, three adds Delos and a proper beach rotation, and four or five brings the nightlife and quieter corners of the island into a fuller stay. Even a short two-day visit gives a real sense of Chora's alleys and at least one beach, but Mykonos holds enough range between its history, coastline, and evenings to justify staying considerably longer.
