How Many Days Should I Spend on Paxos?

Paxos covers well over three days for the villages and a first look at Antipaxos, and five to seven let the island's evenings and quieter coves settle in once the day-trippers head home.

Paxos fills a first day easily in Gaios, the capital, where the Analipsi Church and the Statue of Anemogiannis sit within a short walk of the harbor, and olive groves cover much of the interior giving the whole island a calm, lived-in feel. A stroll along the seafront promenade in the evening, when the town fills with diners and locals, sets a good pace for the rest of the trip.

A second day belongs to Loggos and Lakka, two smaller villages with their own harbors and tavernas, both easiest to reach by boat or a short drive, and Marmari Beach near Loggos gives a quiet swim shaded by olive trees just a ten minute walk from the village.

A third day suits a boat trip to Antipaxos, a short crossing from Gaios, with stops at Vrika and Voutoumi beaches for some of the clearest water in the Ionian, and the walk between them climbing through vineyards with sea views.

A fourth or fifth day works well for exploring the west coast's sea caves and towering white cliffs by boat, including the well known Blue Caves, or for renting a car to reach quieter inland villages and donkey trails that a shorter visit rarely covers.

With additional days, staying past sunset in Loggos and Lakka reveals a different island entirely, once the day-trippers from Corfu have gone home for the evening.
