How Many Days Should I Spend on Serifos?

Serifos works well over three to four days, enough to cover Chora, Livadi, and a real spread of its beaches without repeating a stop.

Serifos covers well over a first day around Livadi, the main port, where a waterfront stroll and dinner at a local taverna set the pace for the rest of the trip. Livadakia Beach, a short walk from the port, gives an easy first swim with golden sand and calm water.

A second day belongs to Chora, the hilltop capital, where a whitewashed maze of restaurants, bars, and boutiques opens up later in the day as the heat eases. The ruins of a Venetian castle sit at the top, reachable by a walk past several small churches, and the climb gives visitors views stretching out over the Aegean.

A third day suits the hike from Chora to Mega Livadi, once the center of the island's iron mining industry until operations closed in 1960. The abandoned mining structures still stand along the route, and Kastro, a nearby village, holds the ruins of an ancient temple to Athena worth the detour.

With roughly 72 beaches spread across the island, a fourth day works well for anyone wanting to keep exploring further out, whether by rental car, local bus, or a private boat to reach the more remote coves. Serifos also sits close enough to Sifnos and Milos that extending the trip to either is straightforward for travelers with additional days.

Two days cover Livadi and Chora comfortably, three adds the mining trail and Kastro, and four opens up more of the island's beaches by car or boat. Even a short weekend visit gives a real sense of the island's pace, but Serifos holds enough beaches and trails on its own to justify a longer stay than most travelers plan for.
