Is Paxos Expensive?

Paxos carries an upscale, yacht-destination reputation within the Ionian, and prices here have climbed noticeably in recent years as tourism to the island has grown, putting it closer to the pricier end compared to smaller, less developed neighbors like Meganisi.

Paxos draws a wealthier crowd than most of its Ionian neighbors, and that demographic shift has pushed dining costs up, particularly for anyone eating out most evenings in Gaios or Lakka rather than mixing in simpler meals. Restaurant prices here run higher than the Greek average, though locals and repeat visitors note that the increase reflects Paxos's growing popularity specifically rather than a broader shift across Greece as a whole.

Getting to Paxos adds a real, if modest, cost to the trip, since travelers connect from Corfu either by a combined bus and ferry route or a faster direct crossing, both running at a similar price and taking around one to two hours depending on the option chosen. Once on the island, walking covers most of Gaios and Lakka easily, and a short taxi or local bus fills in the gaps for anyone not wanting to walk everywhere.

A day trip to Antipaxos by water taxi from Gaios adds another line item to a Paxos stay, and travelers weighing a full-day cruise combining both islands with the Blue Caves against a simpler water taxi crossing should expect the guided option to cost considerably more for the added convenience and commentary.

Paxos suits travelers comfortable spending a bit more for its polished harbor towns and yacht culture, and while it doesn't reach the costs associated with an island like Mykonos, it sits well above the Greek island average, connecting easily to Corfu and Antipaxos for anyone building a longer Ionian trip.
