Sifnos has no airport, so every visitor arrives by ferry, either directly from Piraeus or by connecting through Serifos, Milos, or Kythnos, and choosing a standard ferry over a faster one brings the crossing cost down for anyone willing to spend a bit more time on the water. That lack of direct flight access has kept the island less developed than some of its neighbors, which helps hold overall prices in check even as its food scene draws real attention.

Dining is where Sifnos asks travelers to loosen the budget slightly, since the island produces a disproportionate number of well known Greek chefs, and even mid-range tavernas price a touch higher than a simple gyro stand elsewhere in the Cyclades. Smaller family-run spots away from Apollonia's busiest square and the beachfront restaurants in Vathi still offer real value, especially for revithada, the island's signature slow-cooked chickpea stew.

Getting around costs little, since KTEL buses connect Kamares, Apollonia, Artemonas, and Platys Gialos reliably through the summer, and renting a scooter opens up the island's 120 kilometers of old stone paths without the added expense of a full car rental.

Visiting in May or June brings comfortable weather alongside thinner crowds and better accommodation availability than the peak weeks of July and August.

Sifnos suits travelers willing to spend a bit more on food in exchange for some of the best cooking in the Cyclades, while accommodation and transport costs stay reasonable throughout the rest of the stay, connecting easily to Folegandros or Santorini for anyone extending the trip.
