Where Should I Stay in Xanthi?

Xanthi splits mainly between the old town and the modern center, and the choice comes down to atmosphere versus everyday convenience.

Xanthi's Old Town, Palia Poli, holds the city's best preserved streets, with Ottoman-era mansions, cobbled lanes, and boutique hotels set in restored buildings just steps from tavernas and small galleries. It suits travelers who want the city's tobacco-era architecture built directly into the stay, and the district stays walkable enough that a car matters less here than in most other parts of the city.

The modern city center, around the bazaar and Antika Square, gives easier access to everyday shops, cafes, and transport, and it suits anyone who wants proximity to the university district's energy along with practical convenience for getting around.

Nea Xanthi, closer to the main highway, works best for travelers with a car or anyone planning day trips into the region, since the newer hotels here trade some of the old town's character for easier parking and quicker access to the road toward the Nestos gorge or the coast.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay in Xanthi span the old town, the modern center, and Nea Xanthi, so the choice comes down to how much of the stay should center on walking versus driving.

The Old Town suits travelers prioritizing history and atmosphere, the modern center suits anyone wanting convenience and easy transport, and Nea Xanthi suits those planning day trips by car, whether toward Kavala, Komotini, or the Nestos gorge.
