Where Should I Stay on Anafi?

Anafi keeps the decision simple, since nearly all accommodation clusters between Chora and the port, with the choice really coming down to altitude and how close to the water you want to be.

Anafi holds just one real village, Chora, built into the mountainside at around 200 meters and home to most of the island's restaurants, bars, and shops. Staying here puts you in the middle of daily life on the island, with narrow alleys, caves, and viewpoints reachable on foot, though it means a walk down to the beaches each day.

The stretch between Chora and the port, closer to Klisidi Beach, holds a growing number of hotels and studios, and it suits travelers who want easier access to the water without giving up a short walk into the village for dinner. Klisidi itself, the closest beach to the port, stays unorganized and quiet, and several properties sit within a ten to twenty minute walk of it and of Agios Nikolaos beach further along.

Since walking is the only way to get around Anafi, staying anywhere between the port and Chora keeps most of the island within reach, and the short distances mean the choice comes down to preference rather than convenience.

Accommodation on Anafi consists mostly of family-run apartments and traditional rooms rather than large hotels, and places to stay on Anafi fill up quickly given how few properties the island has, so booking ahead matters here more than on busier islands.

Anafi has no airport, and the ferry connects through Santorini or directly from Piraeus, so it's worth taking the time to book the crossing in advance, especially in peak summer months.

Chora suits travelers who want to be in the middle of village life, and the stretch near Klisidi Beach suits anyone who'd rather wake up closer to the water and walk into town for the evening.
