Where Should I Stay on Elafonisos?

Elafonisos keeps the decision fairly simple, since nearly all of the island's accommodation sits within walking distance of its single main village.

Elafonisos town, clustered around the port, holds whitewashed buildings converted into cafes and rooms, along with seafood tavernas lining the waterfront where boats come and go through the day. It suits most visitors, since the village itself is small enough to walk end to end, and several beaches, including Kontogoni and Kalogeras, sit just a few minutes on foot from the center.

Properties a short walk further out, toward Panagia Beach or Sarakiniko, give a bit more distance from the village center while still keeping the port and its restaurants within an easy walk or short drive. This stretch suits travelers wanting to wake up closer to a specific beach without leaving the island's small footprint entirely.

For anyone wanting to be closest to Simos, the island's signature beach, a short drive or bike ride from the village center puts that stretch of sand and dunes within easy reach for a full day without much backtracking.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay on Elafonisos cover the village and the beaches nearby, so the choice comes down mostly to how close to a specific stretch of sand the stay should be.

Elafonisos connects only by a short ferry from Pounda, near Neapoli, so it's worth taking a moment to check ferry schedules and book tickets if arriving during peak season, since the crossing carries cars and can back up in July and August. The village suits nearly every visitor, and staying closer to Simos suits anyone who wants that beach as the center of the trip.
