Where Should I Stay on Halki?

Halki keeps the decision fairly simple, since nearly all of the island's accommodation sits in or right around Nimporio, its only real village.

Halki's harbor front, lined with colorful neoclassical houses and the pedestrian promenade where tavernas and cafes gather each evening, gives the most central base, and it suits most visitors given how compact the village is. Day-trip boats from Rhodes fill the harbor by mid-morning, but the crowds thin out by late afternoon, leaving a quieter local rhythm for anyone staying overnight.

Properties a short walk from the harbor toward Pontamos Beach give a slightly quieter setting while still keeping the village's restaurants and shops within easy reach, and a small minibus connects Nimporio to Pontamos for anyone who'd rather not walk. Reaching the island's other beaches means walking, since roads don't extend much beyond the port.

Accommodation on Halki consists mostly of traditional rooms and apartments rather than large hotels, and staying at least a few nights, rather than treating it as a day trip, is what lets the island's evening quiet actually settle in once the boats from Rhodes head back.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay on Halki cover the harbor front and the quieter stretch toward Pontamos, so the choice mostly comes down to how close to the restaurants the stay should be.

Halki has no airport, and travelers connect through Rhodes by ferry from Kamiros Skala, so it's worth taking time to check ferry schedules and book tickets ahead of a summer visit. The harbor front suits most visitors, and the area toward Pontamos suits anyone wanting a slightly quieter stay within easy walking distance of the village.
