Where Should I Stay on Schinoussa?

Schinousa splits mainly between Chora and two smaller settlements nearby, and the choice comes down to convenience versus real seclusion.

Schinousa's Chora, the island's main village, holds nearly all of the accommodation, along with the tavernas, cafes, and small shops that anchor daily life here. It suits most first-time visitors, since Tsigouri and Livadi beaches sit within easy walking distance and a local minibus often runs guests to the port and back on arrival and departure days.

Livadi, a short walk from Chora, gives a beach-focused base with its own handful of guesthouses right near golden sand and natural shade, and it suits families or anyone wanting to wake up closer to the water than the village itself allows.

Messaria, a small rural settlement north of Chora, trades proximity to the village for genuine quiet, with a couple of hotels near the island's northern beaches and far fewer people passing through than Chora sees.

Once a base is decided, hotels and places to stay on Schinousa span Chora, Livadi, and Messaria, so the choice comes down to how central or how quiet the stay should be.

Schinousa has no airport, and most travelers connect through Naxos or Amorgos by ferry, so it's worth taking time to check ferry schedules and book tickets ahead of a summer visit, since the island's limited rooms sell out early in peak season. Chora suits most first-time visitors, Livadi suits families and beach-focused stays, and Messaria suits travelers seeking the island's quietest corner.
