Getting from Agathonisi to Naxos

If you are heading to Naxos from Agathonisi you are making your way from the northern Dodecanese group to the largest island in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the Aegean. It has a medieval Venetian town above the port, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a mountainous interior of marble villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Naxos. Getting there means taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then taking the Piraeus to Naxos ferry, which takes around 3.5 to 5.5 hours with multiple daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Both Naxos and the nearest airports to Agathonisi have connections from Athens. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Naxos, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos and fly to Athens. From there you can either fly directly to Naxos or take the ferry from Piraeus. The ferry from Piraeus delivers you directly to the port in the centre of Naxos Town and is often more practical than the short flight when you factor in airport transfers.
