Getting from Agathonisi to Tinos

If you are heading to Tinos from Agathonisi you are making your way from the northern Dodecanese group to an island in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the Aegean. It has the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Tinos. Getting there means taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus or Rafina to Tinos. The fast catamaran from Rafina takes around 2 to 3 hours and is the most convenient option if you are connecting from Athens Airport as Rafina is only 25 kilometres from the terminal.

Getting there by air

Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos, followed by the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos taking around 30 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos. If you are connecting from Athens Airport, Rafina is the more practical port and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle directly to Tinos port.
