Getting from Alonissos to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Alonissos you are making your way from the most remote of the Sporades group to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Alonissos to Patras. Getting there means taking the ferry from Alonissos to Volos and then driving west to Patras via Athens and the E65 motorway, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Volos. Alternatively, take the ferry to Skiathos, fly to Athens and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos, fly to Athens and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Alonissos to Skiathos, fly to Athens and take the KTEL bus to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Alonissos to Volos and drive west to Patras via Athens and the E65 motorway.
