Getting from Amorgos to Fournoi

If you are heading to Fournoi from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to a cluster of small fishing islands between Ikaria and Samos in the eastern Aegean, on the opposite side of the Aegean. The two island groups are in completely different parts of Greece and there is no direct sea connection between them.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Amorgos to Fournoi. Getting there means taking the ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and then flying to Samos or Ikaria, followed by the local ferry to Fournoi, which takes under 1 hour from either island and runs daily in summer. Alternatively, take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and then fly to Samos or Ikaria for the local ferry across.

Getting there by air

Fournoi has no airport. The nearest airports are Samos and Ikaria, both with connections from Athens. Amorgos has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Samos, followed by the local ferry to Fournoi, gives a total journey time of around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and then fly to Samos and take the local ferry across to Fournoi. It is the most practical approach given the two islands are on opposite sides of the Aegean. Give yourself at least two nights on Fournoi and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited.
