Getting from Amorgos to Kasos

If you are heading to Kasos from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the southernmost island in the Dodecanese group. It has a maritime history that produced some of Greece's most celebrated sea captains and an authenticity that comes from being almost entirely off the tourist circuit.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Amorgos to Kasos running in summer on the wider Blue Star route that connects the Cyclades with the Dodecanese. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 10 to 15 hours depending on the vessel and stops along the way. It is a long sea journey but keeps the route within the island network without going through Athens.

Getting there by air

Kasos has its own small airport with connections from Athens via Rhodes. Amorgos has no airport. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes and Rhodes to Kasos gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and then fly to Rhodes and connect to Kasos by air or local ferry. Check the schedule carefully as the Kasos service runs a limited number of times per week. If you prefer to travel by sea, check whether the seasonal direct ferry from Amorgos aligns with your dates as it avoids Athens entirely.
