Getting from Amorgos to Mykonos

If you are heading to Mykonos from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the most cosmopolitan island in the group. It has a maze of whitewashed lanes above the port, long beaches on the south coast and some of the best beach clubs in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Amorgos to Mykonos running in summer on the wider Cyclades route, with both the Seajets catamaran and Blue Star conventional ferry serving the connection. The catamaran takes around 2 to 3 hours and runs several times a week in peak season. It is one of the most natural connections from Amorgos and keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades.

Getting there by air

Mykonos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Amorgos has no airport. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos takes around 40 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the direct seasonal ferry from Amorgos to Mykonos. It is the most enjoyable approach and keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades. Check the schedule before planning around it as the frequency varies by season. Book ahead in July and August as Mykonos fills up fast. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Mykonos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Mykonos New Port.
