Getting from Amorgos to Thessaloniki

If you are heading to Thessaloniki from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the second largest city in Greece, in the north of the country. It has a waterfront that stretches for kilometres past the White Tower, exceptional food and a history shaped by Byzantine, Ottoman and modern Greek influences.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Amorgos to Thessaloniki. Getting there by sea means taking the overnight ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and then traveling north by road, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens. Flying is considerably more practical.

Getting there by air

Thessaloniki has an international airport with daily connections from Athens. Amorgos has no airport. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Thessaloniki takes around 55 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and then fly to Thessaloniki. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and drive north via the E75 motorway to Thessaloniki, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens.
