Getting from Andros to Anafi

If you are heading to Anafi from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to one of the most remote islands in the group, in the southern Aegean. It has a monolithic rock rising 460 metres from the sea and almost no tourist infrastructure.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Andros to Anafi running in summer on the wider Blue Star route that connects the northern and southern Cyclades. The journey takes around 8 to 11 hours with stops along the way through Tinos, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini. It keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades. Alternatively, take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, make your way to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Anafi ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 8 to 11 hours.

Getting there by air

Anafi has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then Athens to Santorini, followed by the short ferry from Santorini to Anafi taking around 1 hour 15 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, fly to Athens and then fly to Santorini and take the short ferry across to Anafi. It is the most practical approach. Come with everything you need as the island has almost no facilities and that is entirely the point of going. If you prefer to travel entirely by sea, check whether the seasonal direct ferry from Andros aligns with your dates.
