Getting from Andros to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to the third largest city in Greece on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Andros to Patras. Getting there means taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, and then driving or taking the KTEL bus west to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Andros to Rafina and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras. Total journey time is around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina and take the KTEL bus or drive west to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. If you are traveling with a car, the ferry from Andros already puts you at Rafina with your vehicle, then drive west to Patras via the E65 motorway.
