Getting from Andros to Kimolos

If you are heading to Kimolos from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to a small white island just off the northwestern tip of Milos in the western part of the group. It has beaches that see a fraction of the crowds found anywhere nearby.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Andros to Kimolos. Getting there means taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, making your way to Piraeus and then boarding the Piraeus to Milos ferry, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 to 3.5 hours, followed by the short local ferry from Pollonia to Kimolos taking around 20 to 25 minutes. Alternatively, fly to Milos from Athens and take the short local ferry.

Getting there by air

Kimolos has no airport. The nearest airport is Milos. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then Athens to Milos, followed by the short local ferry from Pollonia to Kimolos, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, fly to Athens and then fly to Milos and take the short local ferry across to Kimolos. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, drive to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Milos ferry, then cross to Kimolos from Pollonia on the local ferry.
