Getting from Andros to Sifnos

If you are heading to Sifnos from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to one of the most respected islands in the group, on the western side of the Aegean. It is known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Andros to Sifnos. Getting there means taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, making your way to Piraeus and then boarding the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which runs up to 4 times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat.

Getting there by air

Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, make your way to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry. At around 2.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Sifnos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. If you are traveling with a car, the ferry from Andros already puts you at Rafina with your vehicle, then drive to Piraeus for the conventional ferry to Sifnos, which takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
