Getting from Antikythera to Patras

If you are heading to Patras from Antikythera you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in Greece to the third largest city in the country on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, the main gateway to the Ionian islands and western Europe.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antikythera to Patras. Antikythera's ferry connections are limited to Kythira, Piraeus, Kissamos in Crete and occasional ports on the southern Peloponnese. Getting to Patras means taking the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, flying to Athens and then taking the KTEL bus or driving west to Patras, which takes around 2 to 2.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway.

Getting there by air

Patras has a small seasonal airport at Araxos, around 40 kilometres from the city, operating limited flights from May to October only. The most practical approach is to take the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, fly to Athens and then take the KTEL bus or drive to Patras. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, fly to Athens and take the KTEL bus to Patras. The bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs frequently and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus and drive west to Patras via the E65 motorway.
